My Approach

My personal brand of therapy is an individualized and practical approach.  We will first uncover the core changes you want to make, and together find realistic, sustainable steps to make that change happen.  Relationships have a significant impact on any goals you set, or changes you attempt.  During the counseling process, we’ll also consider the relationships in your life, and how they influence the progress you want to make.

My passion

I choose to become a counselor because I enjoy helping people grow, make changes and feel better!   I enjoy hearing my clients’ stories, learning about their experiences, and figuring out the patterns behind what works well and what doesn’t.  Each person is a unique puzzle, made up of heredity, personality style, and life experiences.  Discovering how each of these qualities work together, helps me uncover patterns of behavior, and allows a deeper understanding of the relationships you engage in.

Many factors contribute to the life you are currently experiencing.  You may find the life you are living isn’t healthy, or is no longer working for you.  My passion is to help you find what isn’t working, and identify the areas you want to change.  Together we will find the path to achieve your goals.

My qualifications

Before opening private practice, I’ve worked with adults,
in crisis and non-crisis settings, within the Community Mental Health System.  Working in both a group as well as an
individual therapy setting, I was provided with excellent opportunities to practice my skills in Cognitive Behavioral Techniques and Solution Focused Therapy.

After acquiring a license as a Professional Counselor, I opened and began building my private practice.  During this time, I continued working in Community Mental Health as both a therapist and a supervisor for other therapists within the same program.

Along with counseling, I have also held a position as an Adjunct Professor.  At Rockhurst University I enjoyed two years teaching courses in Developmental Psychology.

Academically, I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology (BS), and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Through the State of Missouri I am also Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC).
